(April 21, 2020) In a recent Mongabay piece,  'Why do deforestation and species loss open the door to new diseases?' Dr Luz Dary, veterinarian and coordinator of Health and Wildlife Trafficking for WCS-Colombia, highlights scientific evidence that shows a link between deforestation and land-use change and an increase in diseases such as malaria, leishmaniasis or Chagas disease .
